I have purchased multiple pairs of these dumbbells and intend to purchase more soon. Regarding the common complaints, let’s address them here:THE WEIGHT: An online search shows that it is extremely common for hex dumbbells to have slight weight variations; most manufacturers specify an approximate weight tolerance of +/- 3%. For Example: this means a 50lb dumbbell could actually weigh anywhere from 48.5 lbs. to 51.5 lbs. and still be considered “well within spec” for mass-produced fitness equipment. From many of these reviews, Amazon Hex Dumbbell’s are only around a 1-2% tolerance, that’s pretty damn good.THE SMELL: These things are rubber and yes, they are going to have a rubber smell, all rubber hex dumbbell’s do when new and are coated with an oil during the manufacturing process. Put some dawn dish soap in a bucket with water, wash them, dry them and the smell will go away quickly. This will also remove any of the oil from the manufacturing process.SCUFFS: I can understand the complaints regarding deep gouges, chips, cracks and any significant damage during shipping. I am just surprised at the reviews mentioning slight scuffs from shipping. Come on, you are going to scuff these things up using them over time anyways, get over it. Put them to work and use them to get the results you bought them for. You didn’t buy them to let them sit unused and look pretty, they are weights.Overall, I am extremely happy with these dumbbells, and for the price you can’t beat them. They are great quality and easily compete with dumbbells that are double the price. For what they are the price is pretty unbeatable. Hopefully this review helps you out and covers any concerns you may have.

Solid dumbbell at a great price
This is a no-nonsense dumbbell that does exactly what it should. The rubber exterior is tough and protects both the weight and my floor. The rubber smell can be distracting at times. The handle fits comfortably in my hand even during longer sets. The hex design keeps it stable when I set it down. Great purchase for anyone building a home gym.

Just as good as the ones at the gym
I recently got these because I’ve outgrown my 25 pounders. So far they’ve been great. They are well made and they are on par with dumbells that you can find at any gym. The handles have really good grip and they feel nice in the hand. Also the metal seems very corrosion resistant because even with the contact with my sweat they haven’t shown any signs of tarnishing yet. Eventually I’m going to order more so I can have a full set from 10 lb and up. I think if you need a good set of dumbells for a decent value, these are a good option.

Best dumbbells to purchase
Just what I needed and always wanted. I never could afford these back in the early 1990’s, but today these are close to a dollar per pound. I purchased only one of each from 10-30 lbs, because my back is currently weak right now and can only use one at a time. Comfortable handle. Ships individually in plastic protective covering. The rubber is a little oily, but that is to be expected to protect the rubber from cracking. Easily wipes off. No big deal! And not a strong rubbery odor present, which has been the case with other brands. I plan to purchase more sizes in the future. 2 Thumbs Up!!!!! Amazon Basics are the way to go. Best price and quality!!!!!

Solid build and comfortable grip
These dumbbells are well-made with good quality construction and have a comfortable, secure grip that makes workouts feel stable and safe.My only complaint is that Amazon Basics doesn’t offer sizes heavier than 45 lbs. It would be great if they expanded the lineup to include 50 lb and 60 lb pairs for those who want to progress further with strength training.

I bought these for my daughter looking for two 15lb dumbbells. These were not cheap but they were about the lowest cost I could find for dumbbells. They seem very solid and a higher quality than I was expecting. Nice weights, I would recommend them for sure.

Bargain dumbbell, great value for money but as several have mentioned they have a strong lingering rubber smell. After a few days the smell seems to dissipate.
