Yes, you can set the VOX mode to activate the screen only when the device detects certain sounds.

High Quality & Affordable
I did a lot of searching for a reasonably priced monitor. I was skeptical of this one because it was only $40.00. However, I am so pleased. The picture is big and clear (with good night vision), the battery life on the monitor is great, and the reception is awesome for a 2 story home with basement and backyard pool. Would definitely buy again.

Great baby monitor! Especially for the price! Been using this for 2 years now and still love it! The night vision in it is great, I can see everything in both of my kids rooms very clearly. Camera has a great swivel range so you can see pretty much all of the room it’s in. Wanted something with no WiFi connection and easy to use and it’s been perfect.

Still Works Great After 2 Years
We’ve had this HelloBaby monitor for about two years now, and it’s been awesome. The picture is clear, even at night, and it’s nice to be able to turn the screen off. The small size is also a plus, but it’s clear enough for us to see the baby. I like that it doesn’t use WiFi, so we never have to worry about apps or connection issues. The range is good, and the battery still lasts a long time. Overall, it’s been really reliable and easy to use. Definitely recommend it if you just want something simple that works.

This camera system literally saved my 95 year old moms life!
This “HelloBaby No WiFi Baby Monitor with Voice-Activated Night Vision” saved my 95 year old mothers life; quite literally!. My mother after having a fall, was given some meds that caused Massive Hallucinations; so bad that she rolled out of bed running from something bad and fell again and cut her head. Took her off the meds and for weeks have been dealing with getting them out of her system. For 4 days and nights she would get up and try going outside, etc. This camera system literally saved her life because I was able to set it up to monitor her bed and whenever she would start to get up, I would immediately be able to get up and into the room to help calm her down. Since using the camera we had no other experiences and finally all hallucinations are gone. But I would never have been able to go thru this without this camera system! Thank you so much for this camera! with audio, video, two-way talk and so much more, this is a perfect camera if you need to monitor a baby or child or an elderly adult!!

Great alternative to WiFi cameras!
This is our second purchase of this product. We really loved our experience using the single Hello Baby camera system, and needed to upgrade to multiple cameras as we had more children. So far we still love it!Things I love about it:- This system is not connected to or reliant on the internet in any way.- The ability to set a 10 second rotation between cameras so I can keep an eye on my children without having to manually switch the view.-Two way talk capabilityThe large, simple display and minimal buttonsThe only cons I have are 1) There is no time/clock display — they had it on the single camera system and I miss it. 2) Periodically there is a popping sound coming from one of the cameras, and it can only be fixed by adjusting the angle of the cord where it connects with the camera.

You can set the temperature which is extremely helpful. The battery lasts about 10 hrs on a full charge (not on eco mode) volume is loud so you’ll wake up and hear them.

I’m so skeptical of good reviews after having used this product myself. I knew it was a toss-up for the price but was willing to give it a chance. I purchased this as a secondary monitor, so I wasn’t being picky. We already have a very expensive, top notch InfantOptics monitor that we love but keep it in the baby’s nursery. He’s not quite ready to sleep in his crib at night yet, so we wanted a cheap monitor for our bedroom, too. We didn’t need it to do all the things. The most important features to me are probably no wifi, the ability to turn/rotate the camera remotely, and night vision. This HB monitor does have all of that, but with bare minimum performance in each category. The video monitor is junk. The UI is so clunky and dated it reminds me of an old Nokia cell phone. The live video kept lagging, chugging, and freezing. Picture quality was decent, even so. But the screen on the monitor would periodically glitch out and freeze. I couldn’t believe I was having issues with signal even though I was just down a short hallway in the living room from my bedroom. My house is fairly open concept, so not a lot of walls between. I was using my PS5 at the time, and I think I saw another reviewer mention their monitor quit working after they bought a PlayStation. Not sure if that is related, but my other baby monitor has no issues when my PlayStation is on, so this is not acceptable, either way. Another con worth mentioning is that I discovered through extensive research how HappyBaby monitors are incompatible with most universal baby monitor mounts due to their weird proprietary mounting parts, which is a major inconvenience. You can’t simply screw a universal mount into the bottom of the HappyBaby cameras as you can with most baby monitor cameras. I would have had to purchase an adapter for this, in addition to a mount. All of the extra spending would have negated the point of choosing such an inexpensive monitor in the first place. I was willing to give wall mounting a try because I read in reviews that mounting hardware is included with this, even though I couldn’t find that info anywhere in the product description to confirm. I had my husband box it back up before we got to that point and we just moved our IO monitor into the bedroom. Mainly due to the unreliable video feed, I can’t recommend this monitor to anyone even as a backup.

5 years with my monitor and 3 purchases for friends!
I’ve been using my Hello Baby monitor since 2022 with my first daughter. In 2025 I purchased an additional camera for my second daughter. That’s 5 years and we’re still going strong! I love the features of being able to automatically switch between the cameras, monitor the temperature and being able to put the screen to ‘sleep’ while still hearing everything. I pick up signal everywhere in my house and the camera quality is never compromised. Night vision and zoom are top notch. I recommend this monitor so much that I’ve bought it as a baby shower gift for 3 different couples over the past 2 years! Highly recommend! You won’t be disappointed.

I bought this set shortly after my daughter was born, after not liking the vtech camera I was gifted. I even purchased a third additional camera (can have up to 5 on one monitor). My monitor started being weird and not charging fully. I emailed customer support, they were great to deal with. I was hoping to just have a replacement monitor- that I would’ve paid for- so I could still use my three cameras. Customer service was fantastic and they are sending me a full set free of charge. Cannot recommend this company enough.I love the functions it has, like multi cameras that will automatically cycle (would be great for more than one child), two way talk, date and time, temperature. Even has lullabies. Found the camera range to be fantastic for the most part, would be able to be outside in the garden with her sleeping in her room soundly. 10/10 product and company.
