Excellent | Not Bulky | Fully Function Franklin Covey Planner System | Love it!
I used to use Franklin Covey planners and loved the system. But nowadays I needed something that wasn’t bulky and this format is perfect! I never found an electronic format that replaced the ease of use of the good ol’ paper FC planner format. Now I have my electronic calendar to set reminders, GPS to where my meetings are, etc…and have a FC planner to jot down notes quickly during meetings.I recently read a study that said writing with your hand activates a different part of your brain than keying in information into a computer…this confirmed what I had felt over the years. Let’s my creative side be expressed while sitting in meeting — and as a graphic design professional that happens often. For anyone not familiar with the FC planner system…it’s more than just a “planner”. It’s worth it to take the time to learn. You want the “page a day” format to really use the system. Basically they have a place for you to rate your tasks into A, B, C categories (A = must be done today, B = should be done today, C = would like to do today). After you assign A, B, C, then you rank all the A’s 1, 2, 3,…. then the B’s 1, 2, 3,…. Then the C’s…Then there’s a column for putting the icon for done (check mark), in process (dot), cancelled (X), forwarded to another date (right arrow), delegated (a circle with a checkmark and G next to it). Here’s a cool thing!!! If you forward the task, you just put the task on that future date and if there were any notes you took on the extra page you jot that date next to the task on the new date…translation… you don’t have to write your notes twice!Would love it if FC would add a couple design choices.Hope this review helps someone make an informed choice.Heidi

    Organization at it’s finest!
I love these planners and am now on my second year of ordering the Franklin Covey system. I love having two pages per day to keep track of notes, appointments, and to do lists. They’re a tad pricey, but worth it!

    Kit is the keyword
This review is for the 5.5″x8.5″. This is indeed a kit. Each month is a separate spiral notebook – the kind we used to take to school. There are 2 pages, facing each other, for each day. It comes with loose pages which have no binding titled “weekly compass.” As well as i can figure, these are to jot weekly goals. The daily pages are lined for writing with necessarily tiny space between each line. For the price point of almost $80 dollars for the 12 spiral notebooks, it would be great if they came with an option to download onto my computer and came in ring binders that pages could be inserted and removed instead of spiral notebooks. I will utilize them. Ordered the Monarch size originally, but returned b/c it came completely unbound and, to find a binder of size to hold the pages was almost impossible

    Perfect for consultants.
I searched for weeks for a planner to use in my consulting business. I needed the printed appointment calendar as I am on multiple client calendars and I needed to merge them I also needed a todo list. And a place to document expenses as they arose. Finally I needed a place to take notes for each days calls. This format is effective and the 8×11 size makes it easy to see and use.I like the individual spiral notebook for each month. When I travel I only need to carry the current month rather than a full binder. This is a win win. Worth the money.

    Tried and true
Our CEO has had very bad luck in choosing datebook systems that are eventually discontinued. A few years ago we stumbled upon the FranklinCovey Compass Two-Page-Per-Day Wire-Bound Planner (Classic, journal size), and he loves the format as well as how small and lightweight it is to bring along when traveling. He has been using it ever since. Fingers crossed that this datebook is available for a long, long time to come!

Not a single bound planner book
I have always loved the format that Covey uses in the two page per day planners. Especially if you read the book, How to Get Control of Your Time and Your Life. However, this comes packaged with 12 separate monthly planners, plus a monthly planner book, plus and address book. The way that I read the description indicated it was a 3 1/2″ single bound planner, not fourteen smaller books. This creates a complicated bunch of planners that have to be shuffled around.

    Excellent

Purchased the 2 page monthly compass planner and paper quality is extremely poor—thin that will bleed through. I do like the 2 page layout and the monthly binding. Previous FranklinCovey purchases had a higher grade paper weight. Not sure if it’s a systemic deterioration of their offering but be sure you’re okay with ink bleeding through or adjust accordingly.
